| Personal History | Early Childhood Growing up Talisa was always reminded of the accomplishments of her relaltives. The Solwick’s had been in Starfleet and Federation politics for as long as she can remember. Also from a young age she felt that she only really had two choices in life. Either become a diplomat or become a starfleet officer. She had no idea how to break free of her families obligations and pressure. From her spective she had no other real choices. She could recall as a young child being dragged around like a trophy to diplomatic functions or onto ships and being told how great politics and Starfleet were. And how she would excel at either career field. Talisa was born and raised on Betazed. Her mother and father both served Starfleet on Betazed. There was an orbiting starbase in orbit over the planet. So her parents would go to the base during the day, and take care of her two siblings and her at night and on weekends. She had a pretty sheltered life, even when she met her family, they kept distracted on their own accomplishments. She really never knew what it was like to be around aliens, till she started school. Grammar School Days Talisa felt that grammar school was to easy. She did however enjoy meeting other races, and learning about other cultures. Unlike her Great Aunt side of the family, her parents were not arranging marriages for her or her siblings. They were more new age approach. This allowed Talissa the freedom she needed to make true friendships. This also allowed her to really accept her family heritage and her potential place in Starfleet. Meeting other aliens, and learning about them, had the explorer in her come out. She knew from a young age, she wanted to explore the stars. Middle School Days This was probably the hardest time in her life, Betazed puberty was hard. She knew kids struggled with it, she could sense them. But they only had to deal with their own discomforts. She had to deal with hers and with theirs. On a planet full of telepaths, it made it difficult for her. She was able to find a balance, and make friends. Most of her friends were local citizens, and no ambition of leaving Betazed. For this time in her life, that was okay. But she knew eventually she would have to say goodbye to them. And some of her friends were also becoming engaged and promised to future partners. Talisa was happy her family did not force this. The same could not be said on Great Aunt Krisna side of the family. She did not have to worry about bonding with a boy or a girl. She was still not sure about her sexuality at this stage of her life. High School Days Talissa found herself starting to pull away from her middle school friends. It was hard to find similar interests. She wanted to go into Starfleet. Most of them wanted to finish school and start a family. Their relationships with their boyfriends were getting serious. She felt more excluded from those friends ships. Her freshman year she did not have any of those relationships. She tried to make other friends, but most of the time the competitive spirit in her started to push people away. She really hated puberty. It changed her, made her more competitive and made her care about her physique. Talissa graduated close to the top of her class. Thanks to Captain Treyla Solwick she was accepted into Starfleet Academy. ----- |

| Service Record | Starfleet Academy 1st Year Cadet: Talissa joined Starfleet Academy with a focus on starship flight operations; excelled in simulations but struggled with team dynamics due to her overzealousness. Her first year she really pushed herself to the limits. She was over the top arrogant, and most of her fellow classmates found it hard to trust in her. Because she was more interested in wining than actually helping the team. She was very competitive. In her first tour, she made a critical error during a training exercise that almost resulted in disaster. This experience haunts her, driving her to overcompensate. The skill test was set up, so she had to trust in others. Her inability to do that, forced her and her team to fail. She kept reading the logs, her part of the performance was flawless, it was her inferior classmates that did not pull their wait in her opinino. One of her professors had to pull her back to reality. That professor became a mentor to her. He got her to see that you are only as strong as you're weakest member. She hated that saying, mainly because it was true. Also hated hearing it because a Cadet by the name of Janet Carrington, rubbed it in her face that her team crushed Talissa’s team. Talissa hated to loose, and would always beat Janet in one on one competitions. But not on team competitions. Janet was just as arrogant as Talissa and believed her own hype. 2nd Year Cadet: With the harsh lesson from her first year still fresh in her mind, Talia began to reassess her competitive nature. Encouraged by her mentor, she acknowledged that her arrogant attitude had alienated her peers and hindered her growth. This realization sparked a desire to embrace collaboration rather than competition. Determined to improve, Talia made a conscious effort to reach out to her classmates. She started participating in group study sessions and training exercises where she actively listened to others' ideas and strategies. This shift in behavior helped her forge relationships with her fellow cadets, gradually earning their trust. Talia and Janet’s rivalry continued, with Janet often taunting Talia about her past failures. However, Talia decided to channel her frustration into motivation. Instead of viewing Janet as a competitor, she saw her as a benchmark for improvement. This change in mindset allowed Talia to focus on her own growth rather than getting caught up in rivalry. During a significant training simulation, Talia was appointed as the team leader. Drawing on her newfound understanding of teamwork, she focused on leveraging each member's strengths rather than trying to dominate the mission. This approach led to a successful outcome, boosting her confidence and solidifying her bond with her team. Despite her progress, Talia still faced setbacks. During one group exercise, she encountered a situation where a miscommunication with her team led to a near-failure. This experience reminded her that teamwork requires constant effort and vigilance. Instead of blaming others, she took responsibility and worked to rectify the situation, reinforcing her commitment to collaboration. Talia learned the importance of vulnerability and openness. She began sharing her struggles and fears with her teammates, creating a supportive environment. This not only strengthened her relationships but also encouraged her peers to be more open, fostering a culture of trust. At the end of the year, a major inter-cadet competition was held, pitting teams against each other in a series of tactical simulations. Talia’s team, now cohesive and collaborative, performed exceptionally well. They ultimately faced Janet’s team in the final round. Rather than focusing solely on winning, Talia emphasized strategy and teamwork. While Talia's team did not win the competition, they performed admirably, showcasing their growth and teamwork. Talia felt a sense of pride in her team’s effort and recognized that their bond was more valuable than any trophy. This experience reinforced her belief that true leadership is about lifting others and working together toward a common goal. By the end of her second academy year, Talia had transformed significantly. She had moved from a solitary, competitive mindset to one centered on collaboration and empathy. While she still had moments of self-doubt and competitive spirit, she learned to balance those traits with the understanding that her success was tied to the success of her team. This growth set the stage for her continued journey at the Academy and beyond. 3rd Year Cadet: Talia Kestrel approached the end of her second year at Starfleet Academy, she had made significant strides in her personal and leadership development. Here’s how her year wrapped up and set the stage for her transition into her third year: By the end of her second year, Talia had gained respect from her peers for her improved leadership skills. Although she still grappled with her competitive nature, she had learned to balance it with a focus on teamwork and collaboration. Her newfound ability to listen and empower her teammates helped solidify her role as a leader. Talia actively worked on building trust within her team. She initiated team-building exercises, emphasizing group dynamics and encouraging open communication. She made it a priority to recognize each member’s strengths and contributions during simulations, fostering a supportive environment. Talia's team began to operate more cohesively, with members feeling valued and motivated. They started to celebrate small victories together, which helped to strengthen their bond. This camaraderie allowed Talia to feel more comfortable delegating responsibilities, marking a significant shift from her earlier tendencies to micromanage. The rivalry with Janet Carrington continued, but Talia learned to channel her competitive spirit in a healthier way. Instead of seeing Janet solely as an adversary, she recognized the value in their competition. Their encounters pushed her to strive for excellence without losing sight of the importance of teamwork. Talia took time to reflect on her experiences throughout the year. The critical error during the training exercise still weighed on her, but she came to understand it as a pivotal moment for growth rather than a mark of failure. Her mentor’s guidance helped her see that mistakes are opportunities for learning. As Talia prepared for her third year, she began to take on a mentorship role for newer cadets. She shared her journey, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and the lessons she had learned. This role not only reinforced her growth but also helped her to further internalize the values she was trying to embody. With her second year coming to a close, Talia set new goals for herself. She aimed to continue fostering a collaborative environment within her team while also working on her own personal growth. She wanted to focus on her ability to remain grounded and to balance her competitive nature with empathy. As Talia prepared for her third year, she felt a renewed sense of purpose. She entered the new academic year with optimism, ready to continue developing as a leader while staying true to her ambitious spirit. The challenges she faced had equipped her with valuable tools for the road ahead. By the end of her second year, Talia had transformed significantly. While her competitive edge remained, it was now coupled with a deeper understanding of the value of teamwork, trust, and mentorship, setting a solid foundation for her journey in the coming years at the Academy. 4rth Year Cadet: As Talia Kestrel entered her final year at Starfleet Academy, she faced a mix of excitement and trepidation. This year would be pivotal, shaping her future as an officer while challenging her to confront her remaining arrogance and insecurities. Talia was now seen as a leader among her peers, but with that title came increased responsibility. She realized that leading a team required more than just competence; it demanded humility, accountability, and the ability to accept feedback. This year, she had to learn to lead with a balanced approach, recognizing that her decisions impacted not just her success but her team’s morale and effectiveness. A crucial moment arose during a high-stakes simulation where her team faced a complex tactical scenario. Talia, wanting to prove herself, took a risk that ultimately backfired. The failure served as a humbling experience; she had to confront the consequences of her actions and learn to accept that mistakes can happen, even to those in leadership. Instead of deflecting blame, she took full responsibility, earning her team’s respect and trust. While Talia had made progress in managing her competitive nature, remnants of her arrogance still lingered. During a year-end inter-cadets competition, she initially approached it with a singular focus on winning. However, after reflecting on her journey, she recognized that the true measure of success lay in collaboration, not just accolades. This revelation prompted her to adjust her approach, empowering her team to contribute their ideas and strategies. As a mentor to younger cadets, Talia felt a deep sense of responsibility. She wanted to instill in them the lessons she had learned about teamwork and humility. This role forced her to step back from her competitive drive, focusing instead on nurturing their growth. Through this mentorship, Talia found fulfillment in seeing others succeed, which helped her redefine her own understanding of success. Talia’s dynamic with Janet Carrington evolved throughout the year. While their rivalry persisted, it transformed into a mutual respect. They began to collaborate on projects and simulations, learning from one another. This shift required Talia to confront her pride and accept that competition could coexist with camaraderie. The culmination of her time at the Academy came with a final evaluation, where she had to demonstrate her leadership skills in a comprehensive simulation. Talia’s nerves were palpable, but she leaned on the lessons learned throughout her journey. By prioritizing her team's input and fostering collaboration, she navigated the simulation successfully, showcasing her growth as a leader. As graduation approached, Talia reflected on her journey. The challenges she faced had not only shaped her as a cadet but also prepared her for the responsibilities of an officer. She learned that leadership is about service, humility, and the willingness to learn from others. In her final year, Talia Kestrel transformed from an arrogant, competitive cadet into a mature leader who understood the value of teamwork, mentorship, and humility. Her journey was a testament to the challenges faced by those entering leadership roles, highlighting the importance of growth, resilience, and the willingness to embrace change. As she prepared to step into her role as an officer, Talia carried with her the lessons learned and the relationships forged during her time at Starfleet Academy, ready to face the vast universe ahead. USS Portland - Luna Class Starship The first three months were a real culture shock for Talia Solwick. She joined the USS Portland as a junior officer in flight control operations. At first everything seemed a bit overwhelming to herl. Now she was competing with people who had more experience than she did. The luna class was pretty state of the art and her ship's advanced capabilities and the vastness of space, she quickly immersed herself in her duties, eager to prove her worth. She had to be the best, she hated feeling like the newbie, trying to figure things out. Talia dedicated the next three months to mastering piloting techniques and supporting scientific missions. However, her competitive nature created friction with her peers. While she excelled in simulations, her arrogance made it difficult for her to connect with the crew. Around six months and as a a junior control flight officer, Talisa found herself alone, and struggling to hold onto friendships. Her career was taking off, but it was a lonely time. And she was not sure how to fix it. Luckily by the end of the first year, something incredible presented itself to her. Around the first year of career, Talisa was part of the USS Portland crew and during a survey of a newly discovered planet, Talia's piloting skills were put to the test when the ship encountered a gravitational anomaly. She successfully executed a critical maneuver, earning the praise of the captain and her department head, which began to shift her reputation among the crew. They all wanted to get to know the arrogant pilot, that saved their mission. As her second year on the USS Porland started off, Talia settled into her role, she began mentoring junior cadets who joined the ship for training. This experience taught her the importance of collaboration and the value of fostering teamwork. Also reminded her of her time, at the academy. Hard to believe it was a year ago already. Around a year and a half into her career, Talia made a concerted effort to participate in crew gatherings and team-building exercises, improving her relationships with her peers. Her willingness to collaborate and support others helped her become a more respected member of the crew. A mission to investigate a nearby star system's anomaly became a defining moment for Talia. She coordinated the ship's maneuvers to collect crucial data while ensuring crew safety. Her leadership during this mission further solidified her reputation as a capable officer. By the end of her second year, Talia was offered a promotion to department head in flight operations, reflecting her hard work and growth. Along with the promotion came a transfer opportunity to a more prestigious vessel, which she eagerly accepted, excited for the challenges and responsibilities ahead.
